At last a new biro drawing, this time a suggestion mentioned in passing by Hysteria from the b3ta /talk board Alligrater can now be found lurking in the gallery. Approach with caution. If you feel there's danger, lob him a chunk of cheese. He'll de distracted as he can't resist rubbing against it and you can then get away. On a totaly unrelated note, a quick shoutout to my Missus who's just launched a fanlisting of ther favourite book series, the Black dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward.

NobbyNobody's Biromash Time invoked again, this time by Sam who asked for a biro drawing that's something along the lines of A Honky Tonk Guitar wearing a Cowboy Hat, Chaps and Cowboy Boots. Why? I have no idea and Sam said don't ask, so I didn't ask. Enjoy.

I've received an email from a biro-art fan who has requested that stuff featuring Open Doors let in Cold Giraffes be made available to buy. Always happy to oblige, I've added it to the biro-art shop list or you can go directly to the new Open Doors let in Cold Giraffes Store by clicking here.
As always, there's a range of black, white and coloured Mens' and Ladies' tops, tees, sweatshirts and kids' clothes. There's also mugs, mousepads, caps, aprons and even bags!

Another brand new shiny biro drawing for NobbyNobody's Biromash Time based on a request in the suggestion box over there on the right from Perkin the Merkin for something a little bit offensive made innocent. Here's Ass Hole. ...otherwise known as donkeys digging up the road.

A further four of the tiny teaser thumbnails of biro illustrations from the Biro-art children's book that I'm working on at the moment. This time, the biro illustrations deal with the encounters with, (from left to right) Puffin, Stag Beetle, Vampire Bat and AArdvark. I'm still looking for more suggestions for animals with exclusive diets. See my blog for more information.

Don't worry, just because there hasn't been much activity at Biro-art recently doesn't mean things aren't happening. I'm still working on the new book which takes up a lot of my spare time. In other Biro-news, I've recently been interviewed for the contemporary art site, Underspray. You can read the interview on Underspray's site here

Another four tiny teaser thumbnails of biro illustrations from the children's book that I'm working on at the moment in between other routine biro-art stuff. These are the illustrations for the pages dealing with the, (from left to right) Starfish, Squirrel, Whale and Ladybird. There are still many, many more to do but so far I'm pleased with the way things are going. The design of the central character, the Frog has evolved a little as things have progressed so I may have to revisit or even completely re-draw some of the earlier pages at some point. With a little digital jiggery-pokery it's possible to just re-draw the bits that need updating then incorporate them into the original biro drawing so it shouldn't be too much extra work. Still, it's a learning process and hopefully when it's done it will be something rather special. Here's hoping.

At Lord Otterby's request I've made posters of Pengrim Reaper available to buy. There are two sizes, large which is 29"x23" and a smaller one at 20"x16". Both are available now from the Pengrim Reaper Shop. Talking of the Biro-art shop. There are now a whole host of new colours available for the tee shirts, something for everyone I'm sure from black, white and grey to bright red, purple and military green. See the swatch below for some of the options and check out the Shopping page for the full range of available Biro-art clothing, gifts and other stuff.

Here's a new biro drawing for you, this one's a suggestion from Simon the Dwarf for NobbyNobody's Biromash Time. It's a cross-dressing mythical beast which is otherwise known as a Dragon ... with drag on. I've got lots of lovely ideas now for animals for my book-in-progress, a big thanks to those of you who've made animal
 and
diet suggestions. I need lots more yet though so keep 'em coming!

February 6th 2007
Here's another silly insect biro drawing. It's not part of the ANThology though, this time I've put my trusty biro to work on creating a Hornet with a Cornet... in a Hairnet. I see that the NobbyNobody's Biromash Time suggestions have dried up again. Come on biro-fans, tell me what you want me to draw! You could win a badge!

February 3rd 2007
For no reason I can think of, I've drawn a Moon Whale. Meh, and why the hell not. I've been continuing with the book too but things have been going slow due to lack of spare time. if you want to help, read this post on my blog and make a suggestion or two. Against my better judgement, I've also now got a MySpace
page and you can make suggestions on the blog there too.

My Nephew Joe, asked me to do a 'Football Creature' so as I'm in Ipswich, and the local team has a Suffolk Punch horse as its team mascot, I came up with this: Ipswich Horse It's available to buy on t-shirts, mugs, posters and all the usual stuff, just head on over to the Ipswich Horse Shop. Joe, if you're reading this and you like the Horse, pick something from the Shop and tell me what you've chosen and I'll send it to you for your Birthday.

This is a biromash inspired by a simple drawing of a baby dinosaur by a member of the b3ta online community called SkUG and is therefore entitled Skugosaurus The poor Skugosaurus has fallen and grazed his knees, but his Mummy has put sticking plasters on them and they're all better now. Aw, Bless.

January 1st 2007
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'll start the new year with a brand new biro drawing based on a suggestion by Dylan who wins a shiny button badge! Dylan's suggestion was Burritoad, an unpleasent amalgam of warty amphibian and Mexican tortilla wrap. Yuck.

December 25th 2006
A huge thank you to everyone who's supported Biro-art over the last year. Here's to 2007 and all the opportunities it may offer. Cheers!

December 16th 2006
I am pleased to announce that I'm working on new major biro project. A fully realised young childrens' "bedtime story" book with a proper story and lots of illustrations... all done in biro, of course! This book is going to take a while and it's the reason that there's not been any updates to Biro-art for a while. Sorry about that!
Keep the NobbyNobody's Biromash Time suggestions coming though because I'll still do any that catch my eye in between drawing for the book. The thumbnails below are teasers of four of the illustrations but you'll have to wait if you want to see them in more detail! I going to try to get this book published so I'm on the lookout for any biro-friendly publishers out there that might be able to help me with this. If you're a publisher and you like what I do, please contact me so that we can discuss it.

Eurgh, I can't say I fancy it, but Pogus the Pig wanted some Lice Cream. I hope he likes it! As usual with all suggestions that get used, Pogus wins a NobbyNobody's Biromash Time badge for his trouble so perhaps it's worth a mouthful of cold, crunchy parasites. Or perhaps not.

November 19th 2006
There's more terrible, terrible punning involved with today's addition to the biro-art gallery inspired by the sudden drop in temperature of late. So remember, Open Doors let in Cold Giraffes. There are only a couple of days left to order your Thanksgiving cards if you want to get them in time for the
holiday, so what are you waiting for? get buying!

November 14th 2006
Inspired by having a couple of biro illustrations published in the B3ta Bumper Book of Sick Jokes, I decided to illustrate another off-colour idea. And so, with apologies for the subject matter and for the terrible, terrible pun, I present the Sanitary Owl

November 8th 2006
I've had a couple of biro illustrations published in a new book from Rob Manuel of b3ta.com and published by Friday Books called the B3ta Bumper Book of Sick Jokes. This book contains the most offensive material possible and is certainly NOT for the easily offended. The two biro drawings that made it in to Rob's book as joke illustrations have not been shown on biro-art before because of their... less than family friendly subject matter. So with that warning in mind, I present the slightly rude Elephant with Sheep and the considerably more unpleasant and offensive Beer-can Babies. Don't say I didn't warn you.

November 3rd 2006
Sometimes having a job in health-care gives me ideas and my latest biro scribble, Oral Thrush, is one of them. It's going to take a lot more than a table-spoon of yogurt to get rid of THAT infection, I prescribe a course of cats applied to the infected area twice a day. That should do it.

October 31st 2006
A suggestion via email from Tiger Lilly prompted me to produce Some Trees Bear Fruit This drawing makes a greater use of digital editing than usual to create a nice, atmospheric background but most of the work is still done with a humble biro.
I'm trying a little experiment with this one and selling poster prints of it in two sizes via CafePress. There's the standard 18"x16" poster for $24.99 (around £13) or the larger 26"x23" poster for $29.99 (around £16), plus shipping costs. What makes the posters special is that they are both quite a bit larger than the original drawing so you'll be able to see every stroke of the biro and every little detail (and error!) larger than life and in full living monochrome!

October 25th 2006
Christmas card biro design number four is now in the biro-art gallery and also in the card shop, featuring a very, very Unlucky Snowman I have some time off at the end of next week so there may not be any new biro stuff for a couple of weeks. Keep suggesting biro-mashes though because I'll need more ideas to draw once I'm back. Ideas for greeting cards are most welcome, and not just Christmas cards! I need ideas for birthdays, Thanks-giving, Get well soon or anything else you can think of. Many thanks!

October 23rd 2006
Another Greetings card design in the biro-art gallery and the card shop, this one is called Get Stuffed and is available as both a christmas card and a thanks-giving card. Suggestions for NobbyNobody's Biromash Time have dried up a little of late. Keep them coming, there are still badges to be won!

October 12th 2006
I know it's still a tad early, but there are three new biro drawing in the gallery all with a Christmas theme:

Penguin Santa - in his sleigh pulled by six mighty walruses
Baaa Humbug - another terrible, terrible pun
Manta Claus - knows when you are sleeping. he knows when you're a hake...

I'm very pleased to announce that all three of these biro drawings are available to buy as christmas cards! Each design is sold in Packs of six and comes complete with envelopes. See them right here. I've also made two other older biro drawings into cards, one for birthdays and one as a get well soon card Check out the full range in the new Greetings Cards section of the Biro-art shop. Comments? just use the comment box over there on the left or send me an email. |

With Halloween coming up I'd like to draw your attention to the Jack O'Lantern stuff in the biro-art shop. If you order now they should still arrive in time for your Halloween parties! Happy Holidays!

October 1st 2006
Hell's teeth, I cannot believe it's October already. Anyway, Bi-Polar Bear is a suggestion by WhyMe?, and is of course another NobbyNobody's Biromash Time button badge winner.
